Update : There's a little problem editing a schedule while using the VGA version, the textbox are all squished together, i also lost the bottom preview box in the main interface (as u can see from the screenshot above). i heard this is the result of adding VGA support to previously QVGA software, let me see what i can do. :)

RaHSMS II - Progress

Posted by rahjinoh 11:29 | Permalink Permalink | Comments comments (0) | Trackback Trackbacks (0) | rahsms
Adding on a few features, mainly Class0 SMS or FLASH SMS if you are from the early generation. ;) Also, i need to clarify after listening to many enquiries, you can EXIT the application after u CONFIRM a schedule. RaHSMS II does not need to be running to send out SMS, unlike the old RaHSMS.

However, due to certain "bugs" related to the Wakingup a suspended Windows Mobile, if you go into suspend mode, it may or may not send the SMS, depending on how much resources you have, but so far on my Universal, i've not encountered this problem, but encountered it once in my Himalaya.

Will be trying to fix that soon. Till then :)

PS. Last but not least, i may join the spirit of GNU and release the source @ SourceForge, many programmers is better than one. ;) Support OpenSource :)

RaHSMS II - Minor Tweak

Posted by rahjinoh 00:20 | Permalink Permalink | Comments comments (0) | Trackback Trackbacks (0) | rahsms
I've updated 0.5a with a newer build but still 0.5a. Incorporated some tweaks that i've been informed about. The limitation of 7 Icons in the Start Menu MRU. SMSLink icons are now found in the Start Menu -> Programs -> _RS_####### icons.

Change Log 0.5 ALPHA - 07012006

  1. SMSLink now creates icons in the Start Menu -> Programs folders instead of the Start Menu folder.
  2. Able to catch illegal characters in your SMSLink message. (so far only 1 char is illegal, will find out more ;))
  3. Tested with Windows Mobile 2005 on Himalayas & Windows Mobile 2005 on Universal

RaHSMS II - 0.5 Alpha

Posted by rahjinoh 09:37 | Permalink Permalink | Comments comments (0) | Trackback Trackbacks (0) | rahsms

A minor tweak and a new function! Limitations of the previous 0.4 ALPHA stays, but i added a new function, because i needed it a lot, so i think u guys might need it too! :D Changelog as followed.

Change Log 0.5 ALPHA - 05012006

  1. SMSLink function, designed to create Shortcuts in your Start Menu with a predefined Mobile# and Message and can send SMS immediately upon clicking on the Shortcut. Also works with ALERT, but no idea why you want to do that. ;) Default shortcut name will be the Mobile#, if there are requests to change shortcut name manually, i might do it.
  2. Minor tweaks to the code.

RaHSMS II - Tutorial

Posted by rahjinoh 07:33 | Permalink Permalink | Comments comments (0) | Trackback Trackbacks (0) | rahsms
Here's a short tutorial on how to use the current alpha of RaHSMS II 0.4a
  1. Install RaHSMS_PPC_ARM.CAB.
  2. Run RaHSMS by clicking on the RaHSMS icon in your programs.
  3. Insert your schedules into the database by clicking on "Start > Add Schedule."
  4. Edit the date to be sent in this format (yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss) where HH is in 24 hours format. The default date is 10 mins later. Fill in the destination mobile number and message. Recurring is NOT working yet so you cannot edit it. As for Type, you can choose to want to send a SMS OR an ALERT to yourself. In the case of an ALERT, it can also function as a test for your scheduled SMS to see if it works without wasting your SMSs. :D
  5. Click on Insert to store the schedule.
  6. If needed, you can EDIT or DELETE the schedule manually by clicking on "Start > Edit Schedule" or "Start > Delete Schedule" respectively.
  7. After entering your schedules, SMS is still NOT scheduled until you select the SMS u want to schedule and click on "Start > Confirm Schedule". PLEASE NOTE that once u confirmed a scheduled SMS, you will not be able to delete or edit it. You can only edit/delete the entry from the database. (Confused?)
  8. After confirming all the SMSs u want to be confirmed ;), you can safely quit the application by clicking "Start > Quit". Note that RaHSMS II does NOT need to be running for SMS to be sent.
  9. Schedule away! :)

This application shouldn't case any harm to your pocket pc but usual disclaimers apply. :) Feel free to Message me using the "Start > Message Author" option, bug reports, motivations, etc :) Thanks!

RaHSMS II - Public alpha released

Posted by rahjinoh 07:23 | Permalink Permalink | Comments comments (0) | Trackback Trackbacks (0) | rahsms

I've decided to release a raw (but working) alpha to the public due to request for a release. However, this release is not 100% working, and shouldn't be use for any critical usage. That said, it is a working alpha that performs what it's supposed to, minus some features.

Before i move on to the downloads, here's a changelog.

Limitations of this version as followed

  • Cannot removed scheduled sms
  • Software tested under Windows Mobile 5.0 using a HTC Universal (Dopod900)
  • Scheduling a SMS is a 2 step process rather than a straight forward manner
  • After scheduled SMS is sent, database entry is NOT removed, but it can be removed manually
  • SMS sent is NOT stored anywhere
  • Error checking/Quality control of software NOT performed (it's an alpha :))
  • There are bugs!

Change Log 0.4 ALPHA - 05012006

  • Total rewrite again (due to inconsistancy of SMS previously)
  • No OpenNetCF required (all native dlls & codes)
  • New GUI
  • Application does NOT need to be running all the time, you can exit it after your scheduling.
  • etc

RaHSMS II - News Update in 2006

Posted by rahjinoh 22:13 | Permalink Permalink | Comments comments (0) | Trackback Trackbacks (0) | rahsms
Finally had time to sit down and think about the future of this application. Seems that numerous software that attempts to schedule SMS have been released, but i'm still getting emails on mine, thanks for the mails guys! :)

I've decided to get down into this again, having delayed it for nearly a year and still no non-beta form seen, i've switched back to using .NET 1.1 rather than 2.0 as 2.0 requires you to install the .NET 2.0 framework which eats up almost 5MB of your precious space in your device. (that is, until Microsoft integrates it into WM2006)

I will be releasing a new beta of RaHSMS II soon, however, there would be some limitations, which i will note down when released. And all software will be tested on a HTC Universal as i no longer own a HTC Himalaya, and tested in Windows Mobile 2005 AKU 1.1

Till then, Happy New Year guys! Appreciate the support!
